MANHUNT – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Got questions about MANHUNT? We've gathered some of the most common inquiries from players and early feedback to help clarify the rules, design intent, and edge cases. This document will evolve alongside the supplement, so check back for updates.
General Questions
What is MANHUNT?
MANHUNT is an unofficial narrative supplement for Infinity: The Game, designed to support more casual, story-rich play without changing core rules. It introduces asymmetric objectives, fugitive hunting, interrogations, and randomized missions in a tightly structured 8-page format.
How is this different from a normal ITS mission?
While it uses standard Infinity mechanics, MANHUNT replaces traditional scoring with objectives like capturing fugitives, extracting civilians, and managing Notoriety and Prestige. Think narrative ops over tournament precision.
Gameplay & Rules
Do I need special models to play?
No. The supplement works with any faction and encourages the use of existing models and creative proxies for Civilians, HVTs, and Fugitives.
How do I use the fugitive?
Fugitives are chosen randomly from Chart I.6 and use their official Infinity Army profiles. They are deployed using CIVEVAC rules and controlled by the Organization player once discovered.
What’s the difference between interrogating Civilians and HVTs?
-
Civilians roll on Chart I.4 when interrogated (Discover + WIP).
-
HVTs do not roll on a chart. Instead, a successful interrogation grants +1 Special Dice on future Investigation rolls. This will be clarified in the next update.
What is Chart I.3 used for?
Chart I.3 determines HVT faction alignment, which affects the MOD applied during interrogation. It was part of a larger system that may return in future narrative expansions.
Why is the SWC cap so low?
The 2 SWC cap and 0.5 SWC unit restriction is meant to curb long-range alpha strike power and encourage close-quarters, narrative-focused gameplay. A possible Prestige/Notoriety unlock for higher-SWC units is being explored.
League & Structure
Can players switch roles between games?
Yes. Players are encouraged to switch between Taskforce and Organization roles. In special campaigns, you may prefer fixed roles or teams, but by default, factions can shift sides depending on the scenario.
What are “pairings” referring to in the league format?
Pairings refer to matchups between players each round in a league. The current version assumes basic league structure, but we’ll look at adding more guidance on league pairings in future updates.
How does the Council work?
The O-12 Council is a neutral in-game construct representing collective player judgment. Players can vote on Council Sanctions for high-notoriety players. All players participate, regardless of their chosen faction.
-
Only players meeting the Notoriety requirement can be targeted.
-
Sanctioning does not currently have a hard limit per player, but may be refined in future updates.
Components & Support
Do I need the ITS rules to play?
Yes. MANHUNT uses several official ITS mechanics (CIVEVAC, CASEVAC, HVTs, etc.) to streamline the experience. We avoided duplicating them to save space, but a quick reference PDF is in the works.
Are the Bounty Hunters in Chart B.1 real units?
Yes. All Bounty Hunters listed use their official Infinity Army profiles. Some may be harder to find in the app, so we’re planning a support doc to make this easier.
Will you add more lore or inter-game storytelling tools?
We’d love to. There’s strong interest in adding story continuity—like reappearing fugitives, hostage HVTs, persistent consequences, or battlefield conditions tied to maps. Expect expansions down the road.
